I've been teaching rubber stamping & scrapbooking for over 10 years, and I now have a beautiful classroom here in my home. Feel free to browse and post a comment. My new blog is called Mix It Up With Ink, and you can get to it by <a href="http://mixipupwithink.blogspot.com/">clicking here</a>. The new blog is in the very earliest of stages, but we gotta start somewhere. I'll be posting there from now on, so I hope you'll follow me to the new blog. I'm planning a giveaway to welcome new followers once I get it all set up and cool & whatnot. See ya there!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01392128602919681878noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813907675943160181.post-6000829585374915362015-07-20T21:14:00.000-04:002015-07-20T21:14:28.571-04:00Wendy Vecchi Make Art Challenge--July 2015<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9DR7q5ib_bM/Va2XjWUtvDI/AAAAAAAAEPo/XDKm7JCOxwM/s1600/IMG_6267.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9DR7q5ib_bM/Va2XjWUtvDI/AAAAAAAAEPo/XDKm7JCOxwM/s640/IMG_6267.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Look at me, on a roll! Kelly and I had another artsy play day, and we decided to work on projects for the Wendy Vecchi Make Art Challenge Blog (to view the challenges, <a href="http://makeartchallengeblog.blogspot.com/">click here</a>). Every month, they post a challenge, and you have to use at least one Wendy Vecchi product while working on the challenge. This month's challenge is Polka Dots. Also, you can enter up to 6 times per challenge, so I made two cards. This first one uses Wendy's phrenology head, and all the shading on her is done in dots! I'm using my creative license here.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The background was made using Wendy's alcohol and Archival re-inker technique (if you'd like to see Wendy demoing this technique <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1L-RgX4OpQ">click here</a>). Using 3 colors was a challenge, because they get muddy quickly, and you end up with brown. I got lucky here, and I thought it was mind blowing, so, a-ha moment, use the phrenology head stamp! I stamped her with Archival Jet Black ink and embossed with Ranger's Clear Embossing Powder.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ABklrR9DZNY/Va2XjaWnkSI/AAAAAAAAEPk/IV48Mr74nf0/s1600/IMG_6268.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ABklrR9DZNY/Va2XjaWnkSI/AAAAAAAAEPk/IV48Mr74nf0/s640/IMG_6268.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I juggled a lot of things in my day today, so I thought about all the multi-tasking we do daily and what our minds would look like when being blown ... hence, the words. I also stamped these with Jet Black Archival ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. It was a little tedious, because I didn't want the words to smear, so I stamped, added powder, and heated after each and every word. I love the way she turned out! These word stamps were from two different Stampin' Up! sets (retired).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KU6kZk-hddE/Va2XjNNvwFI/AAAAAAAAEPg/TmXCsxyaGjQ/s1600/IMG_6269.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KU6kZk-hddE/Va2XjNNvwFI/AAAAAAAAEPg/TmXCsxyaGjQ/s640/IMG_6269.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On the bottom, I used one of Wendy's stencils and her black embossing paste, and I added the angled lines at the bottom. When that was dry, I used another stencil and added the scallop tops. I mounted this onto some back card stock with some black fun foam to pop it up.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BOmbIZP3-58/Va2XjpQTxaI/AAAAAAAAEPs/5Kyei1OVjCM/s1600/IMG_6270.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BOmbIZP3-58/Va2XjpQTxaI/AAAAAAAAEPs/5Kyei1OVjCM/s640/IMG_6270.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
You can never make just one background when doing Wendy's alcohol technique, so this next one was screaming for some trees. I first noticed this particular stamp last year at a class I took with Wendy in Connecticut. I had to have it! It's from the Trademark Art set, #SCS132.<br />
<br />
The dots at the top were made using one of Tim Holtz's stencils and Wendy's black embossing paste again. The trees were stamped with Jet Black Archival ink, and the word is from Tim's ChitChat pad in kraft, with Black Soot Distress Ink on the edges. I popped up the word with some foam, and then popped up the whole piece onto some black cardstock.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01392128602919681878noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813907675943160181.post-27616992451180180292015-07-19T23:33:00.000-04:002015-07-19T23:33:00.517-04:00July Tim Tag<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Just a quick post so I can get my tag in for Tim's tag of the month. You can see Tim's original tag <a href="http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2015-july/">here</a>. Of course, Tim did a 4th of July theme, but I like to just do the techniques with a neutral theme, not holiday. My new sewing machine was acting up on me. Think I need some thicker thread.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Since today was my birthday, I kind of guilted Kelly into making one with me. Her tag is below, and I absolutely LOVE it!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I love her colors, her stamps, everything. I think she did a beautiful job!<br />

Where/when. I teach in my studio, here in my home. I haven't taught any in a couple of months (taking a break from creating designs, and focusing on learning new skills and being the student). I'll be going to England with Wendy Vecchi (owner/designer of Studio 490, and Signature Designer for Ranger) in July, so I'm not sure if I'll be holding any classes until after I return. When I do plan a class, I post the class information here on the blog, and also send email invites. If you'd like to get on my email list, send your information to stefrick@verizon.net (name, email addy, interests, what level do you work at ... Beginner, intermediate, expert?). That's the best way to find out what's going on in "Mrs. Rodgers' Neighborhood."<br />
<br />
Now, for the type of classes I teach, and how they run ... I prepare and supply everything. You just need to bring your own adhesive and a refill. Some ladies also bring their own scissors and/or bone folder, so they don't have to wait for the shared tools. I also make a color sheet describing each technique, supplies used to make sample, and step-step instructions to make more at home! My classes rarely have more than 6 students. I prefer small classes ... Students have more room, and I can give more attention when needed. Classes are usually from 6:30-9pm. I have a daytime job now, so I need everyone to be out by 9pm so I can relax a little before going to bed. <br />
<br />
Techniques Class: make 3 cards while learning new techniques $20.<br />
<br />
Make Your Own Embellishments Class: no need to buy cute embellishments that you get home and find they don't match well with your project. I show you different techniques to make your own! No specific project will be made, just embellishments for you to take home. $20-$25 (depending on supplies cost).<br />
<br />
Scrapbooking Techniques: Learn different and creative tricks and techniques to use in your scrapbooking. No specific project will be made, just samples of techniques for you to take home. $20-$25 (depending on supplies cost).<br />
<br />
Jewelry Class: working on this. I have lots of tip & techniques up my sleeves. Gotta work out the details.)<br />
<br />
So, if you're interested, send me an email at stefrick@verizon.net and I'll put on my mailing list.<br />
<br />
Thanks!<br />

<br />
Tanya & I were busy again in the studio, and today we worked on some cards for the Make-Art-Challenge-Blog with Wendy Vecchi. I won last month's challenge ... let's see if I can do it again! You can check out the blog by clicking <a href="http://frame.bloglovin.com/?post=4266647105&group=0&frame_type=a&context=feed_all&context_ids=&blog=13390257&frame=1&click=0&user=0">here</a>, and get in on the fun. If you sign up on Bloglovin', you'll get a notification each month for the new challenge. This month's prize is Wendy Vecchi products from Stamper's Anonymous!<br />
<br />
The challenge is to use the Archival reinkers, so what better way than to do Wendy's alcohol/reinker technique? We each started out with 8 pieces of Ranger's Specialty Stamping Paper. We played with all of Wendy's colors and created all kinds of backgrounds. I finished first, and Tanya still had 3 more to make.<br />
<br />
We started to make cards, and I spent the rest of the morning working on this one, where Tanya got 3 done! We decided I'm quicker at backgrounds, and she's quicker at embellishing. lol<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-D2-Td5Zy_ms/VSMQEGZm5hI/AAAAAAAAENc/8aZE-2l6Lnk/s1600/DSCN1802.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-D2-Td5Zy_ms/VSMQEGZm5hI/AAAAAAAAENc/8aZE-2l6Lnk/s1600/DSCN1802.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This particular piece is probably the one that looks the least like her famed technique, because I only used one color, Dandelion. You can see a little of the layers on the left side.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ufVzq79-KoQ/VSMQD1hE6JI/AAAAAAAAENk/pYXdI-8-Hgc/s1600/DSCN1804.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ufVzq79-KoQ/VSMQD1hE6JI/AAAAAAAAENk/pYXdI-8-Hgc/s1600/DSCN1804.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I used an old set by Wendy called Just Sew Artsy LCS028. The saying is from another old set, Seriously Art LCS034. The saying in stamped on one of the other backgrounds I made with the reinkers ... I believe Dandelion, Leaf Green and Red Geranium. I stitched it onto my card, but the scalloped stitches are from a stamp.<br />
<br />
Below, are the 3 cards Tanya made:<br />

<br />
Happy Easter! Tanya is here for a few days visiting my son, so after our family dinner with the Curleys at Legal Seafood, Tanya & I decided to make the latest Tim Tag! Every month Tim creates a tag chock full of techniques, and he gives step by step instruction with pics so you can try all the techniques.<br />
<br />
This month's tag is so gorgeous, we pretty much copied it exactly. We used the same stamps & colors as Tim, but we had to get creative with the sayings since I still haven't received my script or block words yet. You can see Tim's tag, with all the instructions <a href="http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2015-april/">here</a> on his blog.<br />

<br />
Here's a close up of the beautiful watercolor coloring on the flowers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I got a new Brother sewing machine for Christmas that I could dedicate just to paper crafts, and we took it for the first test drive tonight! Somehow, I ended up with a small zig zag stitch, but we loved it some much, Tanya did it on hers as well. It was a little tricky around the corners, and a little tense, but it came out great!<br />
<br />
Here's Tanya's tag ...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q10YUF1wFcQ/VSHoqrLsUqI/AAAAAAAAEMo/81iv80XK1Yo/s1600/DSCN1798.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Q10YUF1wFcQ/VSHoqrLsUqI/AAAAAAAAEMo/81iv80XK1Yo/s1600/DSCN1798.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
Her background came out with larger bursts of color, and I think it looks magnificent with the pink flowers!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pK2m_YVehzw/VSHoqzH10iI/AAAAAAAAEMs/o9JaDbbHb80/s1600/DSCN1799.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pK2m_YVehzw/VSHoqzH10iI/AAAAAAAAEMs/o9JaDbbHb80/s1600/DSCN1799.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Beautiful coloring on her flowers!<br />
<br />

<br />
She's giving this tag to her cousin, so she chose "forever family", cause Chantal can't get rid of her! hahaAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01392128602919681878noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813907675943160181.post-55907652900880655712015-04-01T10:02:00.001-04:002015-04-01T10:02:32.813-04:00Winner for Masking Challenge<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I entered this card into the Masking challenge at <a href="http://ablognamedhero.blogspot.com/">A Blog Named Hero</a> (sponsored by <a href="http://simonsaysstamp.com/">Simon Says Stamp</a>), and I just found out I won! I'll be receiving a generous $25 Gift Certificate to <a href="http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/">www.simonsaysstamp.com</a>! <br />
<br />
I really enjoyed making this card. It was the first time I tried using Frisket Masking Fluid. I chose a small, simple stamp design to try it out (Dina Wakley stamps by Ranger), and I just love how it turned out! You'll be sure to see more cards like these in my future!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01392128602919681878noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813907675943160181.post-54854003507093010772015-03-28T18:36:00.001-04:002015-03-28T18:38:35.427-04:00Spectrum Noir Coloring<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This week, on the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/wednesdaychallenge/">Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog</a>, the theme is Anything Goes. The sponsor this week is Spectrum Noir, so they're challenging us to use any Spectrum Noir products if we have them. I received a nice set of the markers from my sister, Marisa, for Christmas, so any time I've seen them on sale, I've been adding to my new collection. I'm not much of a colorist (or colorer?), which is why I love watercolors so much ... they're so forgiving and beautiful. Anyway, I decided to take the challenge, and I dug up a very old Stampin' Up! set called Summer by the Sea. I wanted soft, pastel colors for this, and realized with all the sets I've been purchasing, I don't really have many soft colors. lol I tried them out using the colors I have. For the flowers, grass and butterflies, I wanted to have a messy look, where I wanted a more neater look for the girl. I used two colors for the girl's dress and then blended with the colorless Blender. Same with the grass. <br />
<br />
I'm glad I took this challenge, because it got me to actually try using my new Spectrum Noir markers, and I also realized what colors I now need to add to my collection.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01392128602919681878noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813907675943160181.post-91453557643960437262015-03-18T13:13:00.000-04:002015-03-18T13:13:26.647-04:00Boys Will be Boys<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Just a quick post to show the new pages I just finished! This was a page kit (Quick Quotes, I believe), and it came out so adorable, I just had to share. My nephew & his little family are living in Italy right now, and his wife, Debbie, is always posting greats pics of the family. I just loved these photos, and they were perfect for this layout!<br />

<br />
<span style="color: red;">QUICK UPDATE: I found out this morning (3/28/15) that I won this challenge! So exciting! I received a $25 gift certificate for </span><a href="http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/"><span style="color: red;">www.simonsaysstamp.com</span></a><span style="color: red;">, and it's already spent! lol</span><br />
<br />
There's a new challenge on the <a href="http://makeartchallengeblog.blogspot.com/">Make ART Challenge Blog</a> for fans of the lovely Wendy Vecchi. This challenge is to use Wendy's stencils, and I couldn't decide which to use, so I used four! The tiny text, sentiment & butterfly are all stamps. The tree, top/bottom borders, outline of butterfly, and sentiment are all using Ranger's Archival Inks. The background, butterfly, & honeycomb are all Distress inks/markers. I glued the butterfly onto Wendy's Clearly For Art and shaped it using my heat gun. I also added some tiny dots with Ranger's Black Enamel Accents, and some squiggly lines with a black gel pen. The random winner of this challenge gets a $25 gift certificate to <a href="http://simonsaysstamp.com/">http://simonsaysstamp.com</a>.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01392128602919681878noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813907675943160181.post-68782873828744093392015-03-04T13:25:00.001-05:002015-03-04T13:26:01.965-05:00March 2015 Tim Tag Tutorial<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eBZYqwIHFTE/VPdEVgU_d4I/AAAAAAAAEJI/xLW0vO8xiiA/s1600/DSCN1747.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eBZYqwIHFTE/VPdEVgU_d4I/AAAAAAAAEJI/xLW0vO8xiiA/s1600/DSCN1747.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
Time for another tag, and as always, Tim didn't disappoint! Here's a look at Tim's version:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BiECHZ9pm9A/VPdFBbueATI/AAAAAAAAEKI/BN75ooJyYbI/s1600/marchtag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BiECHZ9pm9A/VPdFBbueATI/AAAAAAAAEKI/BN75ooJyYbI/s1600/marchtag.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
You can see all the supplies and step out instructions on Tim blog <a href="http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2015-march/">here</a>. If you're not doing the 12 Tags of the Year yet, what are you waiting for? So much fun, creative play, and you can learn so much!<br />
<br />
So, here's how I made mine ...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KcpiTcDXX-A/VPdEL1uXWqI/AAAAAAAAEFU/vRuy8m9kxC0/s1600/DSCN1701.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KcpiTcDXX-A/VPdEL1uXWqI/AAAAAAAAEFU/vRuy8m9kxC0/s1600/DSCN1701.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Gathered the colors I wanted to use, and squirted some out of each onto my craft sheet. I tried an earlier version with 7-8 colors, but it was too much. Less is more.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AIPqbhm-mVU/VPdEL_jndlI/AAAAAAAAEFQ/66w6oTMP-GE/s1600/DSCN1705.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AIPqbhm-mVU/VPdEL_jndlI/AAAAAAAAEFQ/66w6oTMP-GE/s1600/DSCN1705.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Misted the paints with water and swiped my tag through.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mlGceGn2BKc/VPdELzFocjI/AAAAAAAAEFY/LtKh6SoihR0/s1600/DSCN1706.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mlGceGn2BKc/VPdELzFocjI/AAAAAAAAEFY/LtKh6SoihR0/s1600/DSCN1706.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After drying <em>thoroughly</em>, this is what I got. (It must be completely dry before going onto the embossing steps.)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kcVvUYubeFQ/VPdEMdTcXfI/AAAAAAAAEFc/dYYpD8uiOXE/s1600/DSCN1707.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kcVvUYubeFQ/VPdEMdTcXfI/AAAAAAAAEFc/dYYpD8uiOXE/s1600/DSCN1707.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used the Stampin' Up! Swallowtail tap for my focal image with Ranger's Jet Black Archival Ink, and covered with clear embossing powder.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xSdwKunuoxA/VPdEMoM5uMI/AAAAAAAAEFg/CKmlAugIfcI/s1600/DSCN1708.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xSdwKunuoxA/VPdEMoM5uMI/AAAAAAAAEFg/CKmlAugIfcI/s1600/DSCN1708.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Heated to melt the powder.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8hBmc4tGGjs/VPdEUDUdSSI/AAAAAAAAEIo/t1orfQae0So/s1600/DSCN1709.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8hBmc4tGGjs/VPdEUDUdSSI/AAAAAAAAEIo/t1orfQae0So/s1600/DSCN1709.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
and wa-laa!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YA5i6BhcSiw/VPdEM8JZIWI/AAAAAAAAEFk/GmstVnniAwI/s1600/DSCN1710.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YA5i6BhcSiw/VPdEM8JZIWI/AAAAAAAAEFk/GmstVnniAwI/s1600/DSCN1710.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Stamped the image again onto Ranger's Mask Sheets, but this time I used Black StazOn ink. It works better on non-porous surfaces.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hiRuhi5e-Rw/VPdENH9xeKI/AAAAAAAAEFs/zFhZduUkG04/s1600/DSCN1711.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hiRuhi5e-Rw/VPdENH9xeKI/AAAAAAAAEFs/zFhZduUkG04/s1600/DSCN1711.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Once image was dried, I cut around the image to create the mask.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xtP8DMY5rgY/VPdENdBLy2I/AAAAAAAAEFw/GqWf49IQ21k/s1600/DSCN1712.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xtP8DMY5rgY/VPdENdBLy2I/AAAAAAAAEFw/GqWf49IQ21k/s1600/DSCN1712.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Laid the mask over my stamped image on my tag, and taped the top & bottom of the tag to my craft sheet so it didn't shift.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c76st1xYUho/VPdENmmnZPI/AAAAAAAAEGA/lZ0IXwSYZEY/s1600/DSCN1713.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c76st1xYUho/VPdENmmnZPI/AAAAAAAAEGA/lZ0IXwSYZEY/s1600/DSCN1713.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
I used one of Wendy Vecchi's stencils and taped it to the craft sheet on top of my tag.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ifTWbGSHnRM/VPdENh0ZB_I/AAAAAAAAEF4/kAg2W-8EORc/s1600/DSCN1714.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ifTWbGSHnRM/VPdENh0ZB_I/AAAAAAAAEF4/kAg2W-8EORc/s1600/DSCN1714.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Using a palette knife, I schmeared Ranger's Texture Paste over the top 2 words.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-duHrv71Teos/VPdEOJDEDcI/AAAAAAAAEGI/U_zjrjHiFpw/s1600/DSCN1715.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-duHrv71Teos/VPdEOJDEDcI/AAAAAAAAEGI/U_zjrjHiFpw/s1600/DSCN1715.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I carefully lifted up the stencil and moved it to the bottom portion of the tag and retaped it to my craft sheet.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_sBBC7XewWY/VPdEOWIWLsI/AAAAAAAAEGM/EnMEA6xg-B8/s1600/DSCN1717.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_sBBC7XewWY/VPdEOWIWLsI/AAAAAAAAEGM/EnMEA6xg-B8/s1600/DSCN1717.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
Then, more Texture Paste.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TTOWNbbF3fA/VPdEOqLLgfI/AAAAAAAAEGQ/BrXPM6SxDZY/s1600/DSCN1718.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TTOWNbbF3fA/VPdEOqLLgfI/AAAAAAAAEGQ/BrXPM6SxDZY/s1600/DSCN1718.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Carefully removed stencil again, and the mask. *Always clean your stencil & tools immediately after using any type of embossing paste with a little soap and warm water.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1OVHjf20YcQ/VPdEO1FTOMI/AAAAAAAAEGY/ZjVSL2StiH8/s1600/DSCN1719.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1OVHjf20YcQ/VPdEO1FTOMI/AAAAAAAAEGY/ZjVSL2StiH8/s1600/DSCN1719.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I didn't take too much time before sprinkling on my gold embossing powder, but the top two words were already drying quickly.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xc__8nTVl3A/VPdEPHdLWQI/AAAAAAAAEGc/gVjUfXnxJUo/s1600/DSCN1720.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xc__8nTVl3A/VPdEPHdLWQI/AAAAAAAAEGc/gVjUfXnxJUo/s1600/DSCN1720.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
While waiting for the Texture Paste to dry, the white spots where the gold embossing powder didn't stick were bothering me. I knew I could always touch it up, but I couldn't stand it. Once the paste was dry, I used a soft stipple type brush and brushed off the powder. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wgs9D9exUBs/VPdEPXm42NI/AAAAAAAAEGk/Bvo9iL18yes/s1600/DSCN1721.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wgs9D9exUBs/VPdEPXm42NI/AAAAAAAAEGk/Bvo9iL18yes/s1600/DSCN1721.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
To get the powder back on, I once again used my stencil over the tag, lining it up over the words. I began with the top two words.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3RnQCSpk1rM/VPdEPhy7_HI/AAAAAAAAEGo/cg0zPm1bcvY/s1600/DSCN1722.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3RnQCSpk1rM/VPdEPhy7_HI/AAAAAAAAEGo/cg0zPm1bcvY/s1600/DSCN1722.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I used a Versamarker and just colored over the dry Texture Paste through the stencil. After removing the stencil, I added the powder.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IMk5Hmc0zMg/VPdEP3MjZ_I/AAAAAAAAEGw/eCvm4kgtOKs/s1600/DSCN1723.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IMk5Hmc0zMg/VPdEP3MjZ_I/AAAAAAAAEGw/eCvm4kgtOKs/s1600/DSCN1723.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Moved the stencil to the bottom and repeated with my Versamarker and powder.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Dwh7np_1oXs/VPdEPwPF31I/AAAAAAAAEG0/DxijOK4T2Lk/s1600/DSCN1724.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Dwh7np_1oXs/VPdEPwPF31I/AAAAAAAAEG0/DxijOK4T2Lk/s1600/DSCN1724.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Much better! OK, I'm happy now. I know, I know Tim ... embrace imperfection. lol</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9RRe1OIR2EI/VPdEQGwY1KI/AAAAAAAAEG8/KV9Os9qFvSE/s1600/DSCN1725.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9RRe1OIR2EI/VPdEQGwY1KI/AAAAAAAAEG8/KV9Os9qFvSE/s1600/DSCN1725.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Blasted with the heat gun for a beautiful, shiny gold!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nG6yZa86UMQ/VPdEQdt3w8I/AAAAAAAAEHA/ojO9l6bXB6A/s1600/DSCN1726.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nG6yZa86UMQ/VPdEQdt3w8I/AAAAAAAAEHA/ojO9l6bXB6A/s1600/DSCN1726.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NQFCHZ7L2cA/VPdEQr_vZ8I/AAAAAAAAEHI/b7xYaWRr1Kw/s1600/DSCN1727.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NQFCHZ7L2cA/VPdEQr_vZ8I/AAAAAAAAEHI/b7xYaWRr1Kw/s1600/DSCN1727.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I added more color around the edges of the tag with my Distress Inks.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2KAfPju1yy4/VPdEQ7-cC_I/AAAAAAAAEHc/_ODNbReFRLw/s1600/DSCN1728.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2KAfPju1yy4/VPdEQ7-cC_I/AAAAAAAAEHc/_ODNbReFRLw/s1600/DSCN1728.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m8u5furWFuI/VPdERK4pU5I/AAAAAAAAEHU/Pj7csy_dK_k/s1600/DSCN1729.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m8u5furWFuI/VPdERK4pU5I/AAAAAAAAEHU/Pj7csy_dK_k/s1600/DSCN1729.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
For the ribbon, I schmeared some Distress Inks onto my craft sheet ...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KPaATYODj8Q/VPdERqjrewI/AAAAAAAAEHg/YXzNF0V89x0/s1600/DSCN1730.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KPaATYODj8Q/VPdERqjrewI/AAAAAAAAEHg/YXzNF0V89x0/s1600/DSCN1730.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
Misted with water ...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4cIpONZ-mys/VPdESHEK8VI/AAAAAAAAEH0/fLgYowL0t2c/s1600/DSCN1731.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4cIpONZ-mys/VPdESHEK8VI/AAAAAAAAEH0/fLgYowL0t2c/s1600/DSCN1731.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And laid my piece of Ranger's Crinkle Ribbon in.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dame6MyfRes/VPdESE2_0rI/AAAAAAAAEHs/jMFCd8Wsox8/s1600/DSCN1732.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dame6MyfRes/VPdESE2_0rI/AAAAAAAAEHs/jMFCd8Wsox8/s1600/DSCN1732.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
*side trip: so much inky goodness left on my craft sheet, so I grabbed another manila tag, spritzed more water, and swiped it in.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SRtpRi7MmJE/VPdETPmLhnI/AAAAAAAAEIE/iHYUK5m4q0w/s1600/DSCN1735.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SRtpRi7MmJE/VPdETPmLhnI/AAAAAAAAEIE/iHYUK5m4q0w/s1600/DSCN1735.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Dried with the heat tool, and swiped again ...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-onEFaL2V1Tg/VPdETTYYhSI/AAAAAAAAEIM/UBDYy5ZDJik/s1600/DSCN1736.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-onEFaL2V1Tg/VPdETTYYhSI/AAAAAAAAEIM/UBDYy5ZDJik/s1600/DSCN1736.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Dried, then dabbed into what was left of the ink and resulted with this beauty. Gotta remember this color combo.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Back to the tag ...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hTDSQ2WDfhM/VPdESuS6zOI/AAAAAAAAEH8/A6MCMjldafo/s1600/DSCN1733.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hTDSQ2WDfhM/VPdESuS6zOI/AAAAAAAAEH8/A6MCMjldafo/s1600/DSCN1733.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Scrunched the ribbon into a moist little ball ...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G8RAR7wE66U/VPdES533b7I/AAAAAAAAEIA/qAgVd7w2i8k/s1600/DSCN1734.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G8RAR7wE66U/VPdES533b7I/AAAAAAAAEIA/qAgVd7w2i8k/s1600/DSCN1734.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
and dried with the heat tool.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7Q6cSr1WeU0/VPdETamM7_I/AAAAAAAAEIU/f_dBmiSfl9o/s1600/DSCN1737.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7Q6cSr1WeU0/VPdETamM7_I/AAAAAAAAEIU/f_dBmiSfl9o/s1600/DSCN1737.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Once dried, I've got a multi colored ribbon with lots of crinkles!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xzNXSmGJfkY/VPdETgFJi0I/AAAAAAAAEIY/rq3q2or7mvw/s1600/DSCN1738.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xzNXSmGJfkY/VPdETgFJi0I/AAAAAAAAEIY/rq3q2or7mvw/s1600/DSCN1738.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I didn't want to cover up the words on my tag, so I decided to go with some letters. I dug out my package of Mixed Minis Grungeboard.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-clCMbv9gZKw/VPdEUAW8tzI/AAAAAAAAEIg/jFcLrWY_Uo8/s1600/DSCN1739.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-clCMbv9gZKw/VPdEUAW8tzI/AAAAAAAAEIg/jFcLrWY_Uo8/s1600/DSCN1739.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Painted the letters using the Pitch Black Acrylic Paint Dabber and set aside to dry.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-X0nNjFsDsBw/VPdEUOueUTI/AAAAAAAAEIk/J6WXbFZePe8/s1600/DSCN1740.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-X0nNjFsDsBw/VPdEUOueUTI/AAAAAAAAEIk/J6WXbFZePe8/s1600/DSCN1740.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I painted around the edges of each letter with my Zig Painty Pen using the gold end.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xJutH3A0AkI/VPdEUQQdBwI/AAAAAAAAEIs/rsTmXK-Ub64/s1600/DSCN1741.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xJutH3A0AkI/VPdEUQQdBwI/AAAAAAAAEIs/rsTmXK-Ub64/s1600/DSCN1741.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
For the top corner, I grabbed one of Tim's Idea-ology time pieces and painted that with the Dabber as well.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p_zeuUrB9Qw/VPdEUsSCCBI/AAAAAAAAEJg/-tkW4qIpRNk/s1600/DSCN1742.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p_zeuUrB9Qw/VPdEUsSCCBI/AAAAAAAAEJg/-tkW4qIpRNk/s1600/DSCN1742.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Before the paint dried too much, I wiped away most of the paint with a soft cloth leaving some paint in the details of the numbers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MhWE9pac2xs/VPdEU80J6GI/AAAAAAAAEIw/ogKeR8DhCwA/s1600/DSCN1743.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MhWE9pac2xs/VPdEU80J6GI/AAAAAAAAEIw/ogKeR8DhCwA/s1600/DSCN1743.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I put some Ranger Black Adhesive Foam on the back of each letter ...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dR-Cfv0TDrg/VPdEVMv0qDI/AAAAAAAAEI4/njt7wq12OCk/s1600/DSCN1744.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dR-Cfv0TDrg/VPdEVMv0qDI/AAAAAAAAEI4/njt7wq12OCk/s1600/DSCN1744.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
to make them pop off the black butterfly.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uWf2oaWpEBc/VPdEVJrjszI/AAAAAAAAEI8/4cW9e-M1CSU/s1600/DSCN1745.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uWf2oaWpEBc/VPdEVJrjszI/AAAAAAAAEI8/4cW9e-M1CSU/s1600/DSCN1745.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
I added one of Tim's Idea-ology Pen Nibs as the body for the butterfly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xAWwnw8ROwI/VPdEVtbQaTI/AAAAAAAAEJE/2KrGKn1Vxmo/s1600/DSCN1746.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xAWwnw8ROwI/VPdEVtbQaTI/AAAAAAAAEJE/2KrGKn1Vxmo/s1600/DSCN1746.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And, finally, layered some Idea-ology gears and a spinner hand with a brad.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eBZYqwIHFTE/VPdEVgU_d4I/AAAAAAAAEJI/xLW0vO8xiiA/s1600/DSCN1747.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eBZYqwIHFTE/VPdEVgU_d4I/AAAAAAAAEJI/xLW0vO8xiiA/s1600/DSCN1747.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here's a final look at the finished tag. Another one for the wall! Love it!</div>

<br />
I had so much fun creating the Umbrella Man shaker card, I decided to try this seahorse die from Tim Holtz. It was a little challenging, because there are a couple of shapes on the die, and it was very tricky getting the paper to fit through my machine with the die positioned where I wanted it. If you look closely, the clam shell cut a little on the left side of the tail, so I decided to work with it anyway. I just cut several more odd notches around the card, and I think it really works with this card.<br />
<br />
Someone commented on my last post about the cleverness in using the Umbrella Man for a shaker card. I have to give credit to Jennifer McGuire's <a href="http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2014/12/video-inked-shaker-cards.html">blog post</a>, which gave me the inspiration.<br />
<br />
The background was created, once again, using Wendy Vecchi's alcohol + reinker technique using her Ranger Archivals in Cornflower Blue & Leaf Green, plus some Gold Alcohol Ink by Ranger on Ranger's Specialty Stamping Paper. The hexagon confetti is by Martha Stewart, and the saying is embossed with Ranger's Super Fine Detail Gold embossing powder (sorry, don't know the name of the stamp's company). I also used a spritzer to get the gold specks with my Zig Painty Pen. I used craft foam to pop it all up and mounted it on a Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake base card.<br />
<br />
The Wednesday Challenge on Simon Says Stamp's blog is Anything Goes, so this will be my entry.<br />

Today's challenge on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog is Anything Goes, so here is my entry. I created the background using Wendy Vecchi's alcohol & reinker technique (Ranger's Archival Cornflower Blue, Orange Blossom & Ranger Alcohol Ink in Gold) on Ranger's Specialty Stamping Paper, and one of her stamps. The Umbrella Man is from the Tim Holtz Alterations line, and the hexagon glitter is from Martha Stewart. It's hard to see, but the card front is mounted on a Basic Black (Stampin' Up!) card base.</div>

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9hOnSPLNgoc/VOS663y_8wI/AAAAAAAAEDs/ek4nCJC4LRw/s1600/DSCN1677.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9hOnSPLNgoc/VOS663y_8wI/AAAAAAAAEDs/ek4nCJC4LRw/s1600/DSCN1677.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I had two days off from school for a lovely 4-day weekend! I promised myself some creative play time, and boy, did I have some! I decided to restart the online classes I was working on last year. If you haven't tried any of the <a href="http://www.onlinecardclasses.com/">Online Card Classes</a> yet, you're really missing a great value. They offer lots of videos, PDFs, inspiration, and the best part is, you have access for life! I've taken the <a href="http://www.onlinecardclasses.com/timholtz/class-info/">Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101</a>, <a href="http://onlinecardclasses.com/thcc102/class-info/">102</a>, and now I'm taking <a href="http://onlinecardclasses.com/watercolor/class-info/">Watercolor for Card Makers</a>. It took me until Tim's CC102 came out before I got off my butt and finished CC101. I still haven't finished CC102 (I like to think I'm savoring it), and after logging on to the Watercolor classes, I realized I was only on lesson 2. See what I mean? Who cares if the classes began a year ago! I can do them at my own pace.<br />
<br />
So, this lesson was about masking. I pulled out my fabulous, new Kuretake Gansai watercolor set I got for Christmas. I learned about this set from <a href="http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/">Jennifer McGuire's blog</a> (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PniQFZFgpEo">here</a>'s her video about them), and she happens to be the instructor for this lesson. The idea is to mask off your stamped image, leave it uncolored, and watercolor the background.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xuhN3qNjATo/VOS66CjSFTI/AAAAAAAAEDc/_sxPXoY2WX0/s1600/DSCN1673.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xuhN3qNjATo/VOS66CjSFTI/AAAAAAAAEDc/_sxPXoY2WX0/s1600/DSCN1673.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
I began with this image from Tim Holtz. It looked like a simple image to mask off ... a large, plain rectangle. Fun, but I was ready to add more color.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-C9-cmeIKY64/VOS66IY0swI/AAAAAAAAEDU/DzkwyZiMf04/s1600/DSCN1670.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-C9-cmeIKY64/VOS66IY0swI/AAAAAAAAEDU/DzkwyZiMf04/s1600/DSCN1670.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
Next up, this flower image from Stampin' Up! If you use the right brush, it's no problem masking off any area. Simple, but not my cup of tea. Oh, the birthday sentiment is from Close to My Heart.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tHKNZ4sTAQE/VOS6662_pKI/AAAAAAAAEDk/cr3M31bKa0o/s1600/DSCN1676.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tHKNZ4sTAQE/VOS6662_pKI/AAAAAAAAEDk/cr3M31bKa0o/s1600/DSCN1676.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, this was more me! I've been dying to try this Dina Wakley set, and it didn't disappoint! I kept the watercoloring bold, but simple, and I just love it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sFqI5T5Pibc/VOS66mfLbzI/AAAAAAAAEDg/94Q3eFwsFAw/s1600/DSCN1675.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sFqI5T5Pibc/VOS66mfLbzI/AAAAAAAAEDg/94Q3eFwsFAw/s1600/DSCN1675.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This was a different masking technique using clear embossing powder. I stamped the background (a plaid stamp from Stampin' Up!), embossed it, and painted away. I then removed the embossing powder and stamped the images (not sure of the companies). The word heart was painted over using Ranger's Black Enamel Accents. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O_fUIj-LAP4/VOS66Q_hKDI/AAAAAAAAEDY/LbgUPF9QrqU/s1600/DSCN1669.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O_fUIj-LAP4/VOS66Q_hKDI/AAAAAAAAEDY/LbgUPF9QrqU/s1600/DSCN1669.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
And finally, my favorite. I did the same technique as above, but with a more subtle background by Impression Obsession. I laid the seashell stamp (Tim Holtz/Stamper's Anonymous) on the paper, and painted around it. I removed the stamp and added the very watered-down red in the center and blended it around the edges. I added some Walnut Distress Ink around the edges of the card. Sorry, but I don't know what company made the Discover sentiment stamp.<br />
<br />
And, this card will go nicely in the <a href="http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/mondaychallenge/">Monday Challenge</a> for Simon Says Stamp blog. The randomly chosen winner of this challenge will win a $50 gift card for Simon Says Stamp! One of my favorite shopping sites!<br />
<br />
I've got a few creative obligations I've got to make time for, but after this weekend, all I want to do is the next lesson in this Watercolor for Card Makers class!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01392128602919681878noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813907675943160181.post-68432117512907463282015-02-08T03:59:00.001-05:002015-02-08T03:59:08.313-05:00February Make ART Challenge - Hearts<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-di2_C9lYrvM/VNcX4imzLPI/AAAAAAAAEDA/fhiEOEt1D48/s1600/2-7-15%2BHeart.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-di2_C9lYrvM/VNcX4imzLPI/AAAAAAAAEDA/fhiEOEt1D48/s1600/2-7-15%2BHeart.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<br />
Now that I have more time for this challenge, I can explain what it's all about. There's a new blog out there in blogland that celebrates the art & products of Wendy Vecchi, who's a Signature Designer for Ranger Ink. The blog is called Make ART Challenge Blog, and you can find it by clicking <a href="http://makeartchallengeblog.blogspot.com/">here</a>. Each month a new challenge will be posted on the first Thursday. This one posted Thursday on the 5th, and we've got until Feb. 25th to complete the challenge and post it on their blog. Oh, and the best part ... each month a company is offering a prize for a random winner. The prize this month will be for $25 gift certificate for <a href="http://www.thefunkiejunkie.com/">The Funkie Junkie</a>. (Love this site!)<br />
<br />
There are a couple of rules though, one being you have to actually use what's called for in the challenge, and two, you have to use at least one of Wendy Vecchi's products. Done & doner.<br />
<br />
I began by creating my background. On my craft sheet, I put 3 drops of Wendy's Carnation Red reinker, and 3 drops of Wendy's Dandelion reinker. I poured some denatured alcohol generously over them, and mixed the ink and alcohol together. I then added a couple of drops of Ranger Pearl Alcohol Ink. I then took a piece of Ranger Specialty Stamping paper and slid the paper around in my big colored puddle. I turned it around, and leaned the card to & fro while drying it with my heat gun. I again dipped my paper in, and dried it. I did this a few times, until I was satisfied with my layers of color. Dried one last time. I used Wendy's honeycomb stencil and the Coffee Adirondack ink and added a couple areas. <br />
<br />
I stamped the hand from Wendy's #077 set Worried About Art with Jet Black Archival Ink. I grabbed some Inky Antics Honey POP paper for my dimensional honeycomb heart and cut it out using Tim's Base Die with a Movers & Shapers Heart die (I only cut half the heart). I used the new Tombo Extreme adhesive on one side of the half heart and glued it on my project. I added lots more Extreme glue to the other side, and then 'pulled' the other half of the heart over and adhered to card. I decided to doodle around the heart a bit, so I used my Ranger Black Fude Ball pen. I also added scritchy lines around the edges of the card.<br />
<br />
I decided on a quote (from Be Inspired ... Make Art #027) to add to my card with Ranger Jet Black Archival ink. Then, I decided to fill in some blank areas with the Ranger Archival Coffee ink with the Script background stamp from the Live and Make Art set #038.<br />
<br />
For the string, I used some of Stampin' Up!s Linen Thread and poked a hole as far down into the point of the heart as I could get. I got the thread through the hole, and poked another hole under the bottom edge of the finger where I pulled the string through from the back--I pulled out enough to make a bow. For the other end of the thread, I had it coming from the tip of the heart on the front of the card--I made a larger hole under the finger, and pulled these threads thru to the back. I made a hole above the finger, and pulled the first thread up to this one to tie a nice bow.<br />
<br />
These challenges are also of fun because you just have a small hint of what to use ... the rest is up to you. Wendy's got some fabulous stamps, inks, stencils, SiSi, and so much more. Have fun playing, get creative, and post your creation. Ya never know ... you just might win! Good Luck!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01392128602919681878noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813907675943160181.post-42366647934860108532015-02-04T12:22:00.000-05:002015-02-04T12:22:12.996-05:002015 February Tim Tag Tutorial<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SRs0QzP-cuE/VNJNeOmI19I/AAAAAAAAECI/kCcGripxt0w/s1600/DSCN1650.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SRs0QzP-cuE/VNJNeOmI19I/AAAAAAAAECI/kCcGripxt0w/s1600/DSCN1650.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's the beginning of the month, and you know what that means! New Tim Tag! You can view Tim's original tag and his tutorial <a href="http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2015-february/">here</a>. I gotta admit tho, I wasn't that crazy about it. I'm not into holiday themes, which usually isn't a problem, cause then I get to really get creative and put my spin on it. But this month's tag is a collage, and I'm not crazy about those either! Well, using his highlighting techniques, I went for it, and I really like it ... plus I had fun, and that's the whole point of making these tags ... to learn new techniques, and to have fun!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I actually remembered to take pictures as I was making it, so here we go ...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YRq4nF5F3qE/VNJNZvuMA-I/AAAAAAAAEAM/xm80dain3Xs/s1600/DSCN1629.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YRq4nF5F3qE/VNJNZvuMA-I/AAAAAAAAEAM/xm80dain3Xs/s1600/DSCN1629.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I laid out my papers on the tag how I wanted them. I chose to do a floral theme, and this black text paper had some beautiful. embossed flowers on it, so I decided to cut around the 3 leaves on the left so I could tuck the other papers under them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y3tPO1MCgFk/VNJNZb82AGI/AAAAAAAAEAI/u69Wbaa8_AU/s1600/DSCN1628.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Y3tPO1MCgFk/VNJNZb82AGI/AAAAAAAAEAI/u69Wbaa8_AU/s1600/DSCN1628.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I glued the papers down with Glue n' Seal, being careful not to get any under the leaves I cut around. The papers seem to adhere better if you add adhesive to both the tag, and the papers you're gluing down. When finished, I used the brayer to roll out air bubbles and get good adhesion. Now to let it dry a little.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4xYZTFi3mEo/VNJNZaM2CWI/AAAAAAAAEAE/PyinYpOTkEo/s1600/DSCN1630.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4xYZTFi3mEo/VNJNZaM2CWI/AAAAAAAAEAE/PyinYpOTkEo/s1600/DSCN1630.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once dry, I was able to trim around the tag's edge.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-15K5nP0OXIY/VNJNZ3DvFuI/AAAAAAAAECo/ktNoemQWi8A/s1600/DSCN1631.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-15K5nP0OXIY/VNJNZ3DvFuI/AAAAAAAAECo/ktNoemQWi8A/s1600/DSCN1631.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I sanded the edges of the tag, and the edges of each paper.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--NDPf9wetgE/VNJNZ0LJ7vI/AAAAAAAAEAQ/Z4vesosJq4s/s1600/DSCN1632.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--NDPf9wetgE/VNJNZ0LJ7vI/AAAAAAAAEAQ/Z4vesosJq4s/s1600/DSCN1632.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Coated with a thin layer of glue n' Seal, and let dry again.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DnRqpt5kut4/VNJNaHxfkqI/AAAAAAAAEAU/n9d_FR9YFpk/s1600/DSCN1633.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DnRqpt5kut4/VNJNaHxfkqI/AAAAAAAAEAU/n9d_FR9YFpk/s1600/DSCN1633.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After impatiently waiting for it to try, I put some Picket Fence Distress Paint on my craft sheet, and applied lightly to tag with my finger.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OL8kbku6jz4/VNJNaQWOJWI/AAAAAAAAEAc/NhFbOjwp_sE/s1600/DSCN1634.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OL8kbku6jz4/VNJNaQWOJWI/AAAAAAAAEAc/NhFbOjwp_sE/s1600/DSCN1634.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Skipped a pic here, cause it would've practically been the same as before. lol</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added another thin layer of Glue n' Seal, and let dry (so much drying time in this tag! Ugh!).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Using a Black Soot Distress Marker, and working one small section at a time, I drew between the papers and immediately smudged with my finger. (At the end, I also did this step around the edges of the tag.)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yHT8DiVuFWY/VNJNauEl8MI/AAAAAAAAEAg/4yWJAr2Uyyo/s1600/DSCN1635.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yHT8DiVuFWY/VNJNauEl8MI/AAAAAAAAEAg/4yWJAr2Uyyo/s1600/DSCN1635.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added a small Industrious Sticker frame, and repeated the process with the Distress Marker. I also added some to the top of the sticker to get some black in the details.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5SZ7IJJ5Xik/VNJNa7vQEVI/AAAAAAAAEAs/urOZ1DmpSDI/s1600/DSCN1636.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5SZ7IJJ5Xik/VNJNa7vQEVI/AAAAAAAAEAs/urOZ1DmpSDI/s1600/DSCN1636.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I found some wool felt, and some weaved fibers and cut three layers from the Tattered Florals die. I used my new Brother sewing machine (Christmas present!), and stitched the layers together.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XLTdgNnv84Q/VNJNbDEKasI/AAAAAAAAEAw/t1SVjhire54/s1600/DSCN1637.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XLTdgNnv84Q/VNJNbDEKasI/AAAAAAAAEAw/t1SVjhire54/s1600/DSCN1637.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I poked (gouged, really) a hole in the center to add the flower with a brad. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GfiNo6-LTyw/VNJNbbBYSAI/AAAAAAAAEA0/PAKqDN-e7L8/s1600/DSCN1639.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GfiNo6-LTyw/VNJNbbBYSAI/AAAAAAAAEA0/PAKqDN-e7L8/s1600/DSCN1639.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
*inky, messy backside of tag</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-46wmO7c1Zhg/VNJNbW7jy7I/AAAAAAAAEA4/T7T3oPaoTyY/s1600/DSCN1640.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-46wmO7c1Zhg/VNJNbW7jy7I/AAAAAAAAEA4/T7T3oPaoTyY/s1600/DSCN1640.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The good part about hoarding is that you can find some really cool stuff! I found the decorative button brad and this Stampin' Up! lace ribbon. I stitched a scrap of the lace ribbon to the tag.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kK-_X5q80H0/VNJNbupL9XI/AAAAAAAAEBA/saJ9HmfiDSM/s1600/DSCN1641.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kK-_X5q80H0/VNJNbupL9XI/AAAAAAAAEBA/saJ9HmfiDSM/s1600/DSCN1641.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Can't remember what these thingys are called, but they're from Tim's Idea-ology line. I didn't want white, so I used 3 drops of Mushroom Alcohol Ink to tone it down and age it a little.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xvNyXtrF1NA/VNJNbxbemoI/AAAAAAAAEBE/_Xa0ESzILeY/s1600/DSCN1642.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xvNyXtrF1NA/VNJNbxbemoI/AAAAAAAAEBE/_Xa0ESzILeY/s1600/DSCN1642.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Perfect!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5dpLzk_nsag/VNJNcLyu7RI/AAAAAAAAEBM/yoNwDQZA2ik/s1600/DSCN1643.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5dpLzk_nsag/VNJNcLyu7RI/AAAAAAAAEBM/yoNwDQZA2ik/s1600/DSCN1643.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added it on the lace ribbon with 2 pewter brads, and then smashed them with my hammer!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XHpY8kQYYgI/VNJNccvZTdI/AAAAAAAAEBU/OfHB692H6_A/s1600/DSCN1644.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XHpY8kQYYgI/VNJNccvZTdI/AAAAAAAAEBU/OfHB692H6_A/s1600/DSCN1644.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wanted to repeat this embellishment like Tim did, so I used one of his Typecharms, with an 'F' for flowers.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qHDRdPidALU/VNJNdV9AgwI/AAAAAAAAEB0/6DVef7UUTxI/s1600/DSCN1645.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qHDRdPidALU/VNJNdV9AgwI/AAAAAAAAEB0/6DVef7UUTxI/s1600/DSCN1645.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I added some Picket Fence Distress Paint to the arrow ...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cWS2G9qSFWU/VNJNc9dQYOI/AAAAAAAAEBk/ToVZYDermXI/s1600/DSCN1646.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cWS2G9qSFWU/VNJNc9dQYOI/AAAAAAAAEBk/ToVZYDermXI/s1600/DSCN1646.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and, while it was out, on a Wordband too.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QzwNGwToL3A/VNJNdUPdXoI/AAAAAAAAEBw/tuBcdl1FQtE/s1600/DSCN1647.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QzwNGwToL3A/VNJNdUPdXoI/AAAAAAAAEBw/tuBcdl1FQtE/s1600/DSCN1647.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After letting it sit for a few seconds, I gently wiped the excess paint off the surface, and the paint remains in the recessed areas.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GzUmtALd04M/VNJNdvrVIRI/AAAAAAAAEB8/e6qQlEFbIaI/s1600/DSCN1648.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GzUmtALd04M/VNJNdvrVIRI/AAAAAAAAEB8/e6qQlEFbIaI/s1600/DSCN1648.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Adhered the Wordband to the tag with 2 more brads, and smashed them too! I also did the Black Soot Distress Marker around the edges of this as well.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dWa_oVz8xpI/VNJNdopQdXI/AAAAAAAAECE/UbLhO11LA70/s1600/DSCN1649.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dWa_oVz8xpI/VNJNdopQdXI/AAAAAAAAECE/UbLhO11LA70/s1600/DSCN1649.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wanted to bring in the lace ribbon again for the top, but I didn't want it to be so matchy-matchy. I found this leaf ribbon and decided it was meant to be.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SRs0QzP-cuE/VNJNeOmI19I/AAAAAAAAECI/kCcGripxt0w/s1600/DSCN1650.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-SRs0QzP-cuE/VNJNeOmI19I/AAAAAAAAECI/kCcGripxt0w/s1600/DSCN1650.JPG" height="640" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's a look at the final tag again. I made this over a 2-day period because of all the drying time. I was playing computer games in between, and at one point, I had to go to bed!</div>

I just signed up with Bloglovin', and now the challenges will be sent directly to my email. The first challenge ends tonight, so here's a quick post of my entry (use Wendy's embossing paste). I used the white embossing paste thru a heart stencil, and because of the vibrant Dyan Revealy spray ink ink under the paste, it picked up subtle color. Love it!<br />

I can't wait to see what the next challenge is!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01392128602919681878noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813907675943160181.post-18036395946486267392015-01-25T18:58:00.001-05:002015-01-25T18:58:45.034-05:001-26-15 Techniques ClassI've been playing all weekend, and I wanted to post some quick pics of the cards we'll be making in my class tomorrow night from 7-9pm. Please contact me ASAP if you're interested in joining us, so I can prepare your supplies.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1GYxFl3HabU/VMV8HrFkPBI/AAAAAAAAD_U/mpresf85EXI/s1600/Celebrate!.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1GYxFl3HabU/VMV8HrFkPBI/AAAAAAAAD_U/mpresf85EXI/s1600/Celebrate!.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I designed this card after being inspired by Kristina Werner. She made a beautiful Valentine's Day card, and you can view it <a href="http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/?p=12001">here</a> on her blog.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4VTzq-ZcQk0/VMV8Hspye6I/AAAAAAAAD_c/-YaOiAmYDuY/s1600/Dimensional%2BCupcake.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4VTzq-ZcQk0/VMV8Hspye6I/AAAAAAAAD_c/-YaOiAmYDuY/s1600/Dimensional%2BCupcake.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This 2nd card is made with one of Tim Holtz's Stamper's Anonymous/Sizzix stamp/die sets called Blueprint Cupcake, designed by Mario III. For instruction in my class, we're only going to do 2 full layers, but this set comes with 6 dies: full cupcake w/burning candle, bottom of cupcake, icing, candle, flame, and a label tag. You can do so much with this set by layering the different sections of the cupcake. I love all of Mario III's blueprint stamps.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NENFVu_2scE/VMV8H2eMJmI/AAAAAAAAD_Y/8RHJTAKU_YU/s1600/Memory%2BBox%2BHeart.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NENFVu_2scE/VMV8H2eMJmI/AAAAAAAAD_Y/8RHJTAKU_YU/s1600/Memory%2BBox%2BHeart.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And, finally, this 3rd card was inspired by Jennifer McGuire. I just love her blog! She posts, pretty much, every weekday. She includes video tutorials for every card, and she has a family (including a toddler!). I wish I had her time management skills & dedication! You can see her original post <a href="http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2014/12/video-faux-laser-cut-cards.html">here</a>. She uses notecards a lot for her card bases, and on her card, she used a beautiful shimmery blue note card. To make my cardstock shimmery, I just used the old Perfect Pearls in a Mini Mister trick. You can just Google the technique, or <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1L3AvudfRM">here's a link</a> (you don't have to add a Distress color though).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I still have 2 spots available for tomorrow night's class, so contact me ASAP!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Happy New Year everyone! Tim's tags for 2015 are off to a great start! He creates these tags every month, and you can always find them on his blog. Click <a href="http://www.timholtz.com/">here</a> to see his tag with complete instructions for each step.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've done 3 tags in the last 3 days (lovin' this 1-1/2 off!), and I'll post the pics of the other tag I made tomorrow. For this one, I decided to go out of my comfort zone and create with purple.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j5TeF_X88_Y/VKWwwIYtXUI/AAAAAAAAD-w/iIzGHJuqqeY/s1600/IMG_1432.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j5TeF_X88_Y/VKWwwIYtXUI/AAAAAAAAD-w/iIzGHJuqqeY/s1600/IMG_1432.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After meticulously placing my ChitChat words on the tag, I applied the Glue 'n Seal over the entire surface like Tim said, but the moisture in the glue activated the ink on the tag, and it bled! Crap! Oh well, you know it, embrace imperfection. If you're going to make this tag, I suggest you do a thin layer of the Glue 'n Seal over the surface BEFORE adding the ChitChat words, and then another over the words.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PKlm2xt2EMg/VKWwvGrrhNI/AAAAAAAAD-s/-2QnRQuUGVM/s1600/IMG_1434.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PKlm2xt2EMg/VKWwvGrrhNI/AAAAAAAAD-s/-2QnRQuUGVM/s1600/IMG_1434.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
I have so much glitter for a girl who's not into it! I decided to go with this deep purple on my digits, and I used Tim's Antique Bronze Distress Paint on the word 'twenty'.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-x-kVMoAxcWQ/VKWwwU0F3GI/AAAAAAAAD-4/zbCPgmgiYrg/s1600/IMG_1437.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-x-kVMoAxcWQ/VKWwwU0F3GI/AAAAAAAAD-4/zbCPgmgiYrg/s1600/IMG_1437.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I found this little charm in my stash, and it was too shiny. I clipped off the loop thingy, and to tone down the shine, I painted it with some Black Soot Distress Paint. After a couple of seconds, I wiped it off to get this antiqued look.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hws9p8kHlKw/VKWwvuml5jI/AAAAAAAAD-0/c-tzfYRkKIc/s1600/IMG_1435.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hws9p8kHlKw/VKWwvuml5jI/AAAAAAAAD-0/c-tzfYRkKIc/s1600/IMG_1435.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I punched a hole in the number 5 so I could hang this charm. You wouldn't believe how many colors I tried before settling on plain old Black Soot. Same as above, I covered with Distress Paint, making sure it got into all the grooves; waited a few seconds, and wiped off surface.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ANEHlo38mOA/VKWwv58VDfI/AAAAAAAAD-8/MN8RBhHBeNE/s1600/IMG_1436.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ANEHlo38mOA/VKWwv58VDfI/AAAAAAAAD-8/MN8RBhHBeNE/s1600/IMG_1436.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It needed a little something more, so I grabbed one of these round thingys. I added a clock graphic and the epoxy center. I might just remove that, because I've had these for so long, it's yellowed. I think I'll just do some Glossy Accents on top for some dimension.<br />
<br />
If you look closely at this photo, you'll see I also ran my Krylon Copper Paint Pen around the edges of the tag.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01392128602919681878noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7813907675943160181.post-1075373255406806532014-12-31T16:04:00.003-05:002014-12-31T16:04:47.140-05:00Last Tag of 2014<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bHk963r1M4c/VGd8zAdUTDI/AAAAAAAAD6E/TU5a2Sc6kKM/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bHk963r1M4c/VGd8zAdUTDI/AAAAAAAAD6E/TU5a2Sc6kKM/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B011.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I don't even know where to start this post, because it was one of those work (scratch that--creative play) days that ended up totally different than where I started out. The hearts above were one example of the very happy end results.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wanted to get some samples ready for my class this Tuesday, 11/18/14 "Make Your Own Embellishments" where we'll be making alphabet stickers and clay embellishments in this session. I wanted to start by creating some watercolor backgrounds using Tim's Mini Distress Inks. I had seen a few videos where people were using the small square size to lay down the ink direct to paper. These videos were just some of the reasons why I just HAD to have ALL of Tim's minis! So, here's a picture tutorial of how my day went:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0_6yYCZH_P0/VGd8zUwPvmI/AAAAAAAAD6I/Li5LVShgFQs/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0_6yYCZH_P0/VGd8zUwPvmI/AAAAAAAAD6I/Li5LVShgFQs/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B012.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I began by taping my 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" piece of watercolor paper to a wooden pizza peel (I was inspired to make this wonderful purchase by Jennifer McGuire--she uses a wooden cutting board with a handle--pizza peel was less expensive!). The purpose of this is so I can easily lift the board and turn my project to and fro to get great blending drips when it's wet.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sxcT2WTNXyw/VGd8zTxZtGI/AAAAAAAAD6M/1dS3xXgD4Og/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B013.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sxcT2WTNXyw/VGd8zTxZtGI/AAAAAAAAD6M/1dS3xXgD4Og/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B013.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I stamped down each color of ink until the page was full. I actually went off track here, because I couldn't decide which set of colors I wanted to choose. I decided to make one of each set so I have them for my color swatch book. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5-JQZFGLABs/VGd8zwQEy0I/AAAAAAAAD70/Ki383TU2NVg/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5-JQZFGLABs/VGd8zwQEy0I/AAAAAAAAD70/Ki383TU2NVg/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B015.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I misted water over the entire sheet and let it sit for a few moments to do it's thing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UjrmrFYtsf0/VGd8z0d9PeI/AAAAAAAAD6U/tO35PK15SyQ/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UjrmrFYtsf0/VGd8z0d9PeI/AAAAAAAAD6U/tO35PK15SyQ/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B016.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I tilted the pizza peel back & forth, slowly, to get some awesome drips & blending of colors.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Fs5GDjjgxiA/VGd80I1jVyI/AAAAAAAAD6c/V5iG_LRNIfY/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Fs5GDjjgxiA/VGd80I1jVyI/AAAAAAAAD6c/V5iG_LRNIfY/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B017.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I added more water, and tilted again until satisfied. I stopped here, because I didn't want to lose all the yellow.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
... and adhere them to a piece of cardstock? Very cool! Now, what to do with this gorgeous piece of new art? Die cut it of course!<br />
<br />

<br />
I wasn't sure if the framelit would work because of the thickness of the watercolor paper on top of the white cardstock, but never fear ...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JLg6cYSi8bs/VGd8y-jDu1I/AAAAAAAAD58/fq19b_bDeQE/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JLg6cYSi8bs/VGd8y-jDu1I/AAAAAAAAD58/fq19b_bDeQE/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B009.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
... success!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-90Y93472GR0/VGd8y_jMMUI/AAAAAAAAD6A/3dce4aTDz8c/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-90Y93472GR0/VGd8y_jMMUI/AAAAAAAAD6A/3dce4aTDz8c/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B010.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I didn't want to waste any of this precious paper, so I squeezed out two more smaller hearts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bHk963r1M4c/VGd8zAdUTDI/AAAAAAAAD6E/TU5a2Sc6kKM/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bHk963r1M4c/VGd8zAdUTDI/AAAAAAAAD6E/TU5a2Sc6kKM/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B011.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Not done there. I made this paper using the 4-1/4" shorter trimmed pieces. Since my experiment worked, I did the same with all the longer, 5-1/2" pieces.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Mond8CYXOUw/VGd81p4VpVI/AAAAAAAAD7E/eXpjMHVTsUQ/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B024.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Mond8CYXOUw/VGd81p4VpVI/AAAAAAAAD7E/eXpjMHVTsUQ/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B024.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Using the Xyron machine can get very messy, especially with such thin strips. There was extra adhesive all over the top.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L1WQrUdFY9A/VGd81t8ObeI/AAAAAAAAD7A/ZfMwMaal0Ks/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B023.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L1WQrUdFY9A/VGd81t8ObeI/AAAAAAAAD7A/ZfMwMaal0Ks/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B023.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I used the adhesive remover from Stampin' Up!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WfeTNy-5ciU/VGd8111CbqI/AAAAAAAAD7M/HpJ0Zv5y_6w/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B025.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WfeTNy-5ciU/VGd8111CbqI/AAAAAAAAD7M/HpJ0Zv5y_6w/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B025.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
and easily cleaned off all the excess adhesive.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nddTve3zf-E/VGd82CK_umI/AAAAAAAAD7Q/qCvxMchJaLk/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B026.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nddTve3zf-E/VGd82CK_umI/AAAAAAAAD7Q/qCvxMchJaLk/s1600/11-14-14%2BMini%2BDistress%2BCharts%2B026.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Since it worked so well cutting the hearts, I wanted to use my new script word dies. Love these things, and I started collecting a few.<br />
<br />
Well, no matter how many times I passed through my Big Shot machine, these just wouldn't cut all the way through (next time, adhere to copy paper instead of white cardstock). I tried adding shims and everything. I couldn't let this go to waste, so I spent the next hour carefully fussy cutting these pieces out.<br />
<br />
I had a few rips and tears, but I wasn't going to waste this paper! I carefully glued them together, and cut each word out again from white cardstock. I glued the white to the bottom of each piece to make them more secure, and it worked!<br />
<br />
I added some Close to My Heart Liquid Glass (works the same as Ranger's Glossy Accents or Stampin' Up! Crystal Effects--just happened to be the one I grabbed) to add a clear & dimensional top. *I also used this as the glue to repair & layer them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MmmXZa2gnKE/VGd8xF_I6CI/AAAAAAAAD5Y/PbdJBsZyvFA/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MmmXZa2gnKE/VGd8xF_I6CI/AAAAAAAAD5Y/PbdJBsZyvFA/s1600/001.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
And, after all that work, this is what I got. The word "fabulous" was a 2-piece die. I just did the background layer, left it matte, and added the word on top using textured black cardstock.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1mGHxNim0Bo/VGd8xGWmyVI/AAAAAAAAD5c/CbONq7VDASc/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1mGHxNim0Bo/VGd8xGWmyVI/AAAAAAAAD5c/CbONq7VDASc/s1600/002.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Love 'em! Can't wait to use these on my next project, a card, or scrapbook layout!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EcPu9lqBV70/VGd8xCFWyhI/AAAAAAAAD5U/imwUgqR-DLA/s1600/003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EcPu9lqBV70/VGd8xCFWyhI/AAAAAAAAD5U/imwUgqR-DLA/s1600/003.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
After all that experimental play, I realized I still hadn't cut any alphabets. lol I made an extra sheet of watercolored background paper using Set #12, same process as above, and then die-cut the letters as samples for my class. And, this was only one of my ideas! Today, more play!<br />

<strong>NEW CLASSES!</strong><br />
<strong></strong><br />
Since I began working as a Crossing Guard last year, I slowly stopped teaching my classes. I haven't just been laying around between my shifts ... I've been taking lots of classes and exploring my own creative projects and techniques. I've been doing the usual, scrapbooking, rubber stamping, mixed media, but I've also been learning art w/acrylics, watercolors, working with wire & metal, enameling, and so much more! I've been having a blast, but I've also been exploding with ideas to share with all of you! Many people have asked me when I'll be starting again, and also what they'd like to learn. Well, I'm finally ready to get back into teaching again, and here's a rundown of what to expect:<br />
<br />
<strong>Technique Class</strong>: Create 3 cards while learning new techniques<br />
<br />
<strong>Scrapbooking</strong>: Create a 2-page layout<br />

Tired of wasting money on embellishments you aren't using? I'll show you lots of great techniques and new products to create your own custom embellishments! I've got lots of tricks up my sleeves! *This class is not project based.<br />
<br />
<strong>Scrapbook Techniques</strong>: <em>(New!)</em> Learn lots of new (& old) tips & techniques to use in your scrapbooking. I've got lots of tricks up my sleeves! *This class is not project based.<br />

<img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MAXWxHqhgfs/VGD6xb_TDKI/AAAAAAAAD40/Sp0QjNwX6jI/s1600/11-10-14%2BChristmas%2BCard%2BKit%2BClass%2B001.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm not doing my Christmas card sessions anymore, and it's been over a year since I've taught a class here. This is my 2nd year working as a Crossing Guard, and I just needed some time off. I've been taking a lot of online classes for myself (Tim Holtz's Creative Chemistry 101 & 102, Online Card Classes Watercolor for Cardmakers, Britta Swiderski's Design Principles, and many more!), and taking a lot of classes with some favorite instructors (Wendy Vecchi, Marjie Kemper, Jessica Sporn, Jean Van Brederode, Erin Keck to name a few).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Even when you're very comfortable with all your knowledge, creativity, and skill level, there's always so much more to learn! Plus, it was nice just being a student and letting my creative juices flow!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyway, I've been dying to start teaching my classes again, and these Christmas Card Kits from Stampin' Up! were just perfect to get my feet wet again!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Since these were kits, I set a deadline of Oct. 30th to register because I had to order them. I got the shipping confirmation last Wednesday, and got a good scare since the packages don't arrive until about 5 business days after shipment date. Luckily, they arrived late Friday afternoon, and I was able to prepare one of each as samples for our class tonight. I think they came out awesome! Enjoy!</div>

I've been very busy scrapbooking lately since we've been able to use the classroom at the new Michaels in Paramus. We've been there almost every week! Lovin' it!<br />
<br />
My nephew's wife posted these fabulous professional pics of their last fall while living in Italy, and this new page kit from Quick Quotes screamed for them. It's very hard to get a good pic of the layouts without getting a glare on the pics. Hopefully the photos below show how beautiful this little (and growing!) family really is!<br />

Grace came over and we worked on the tags at the beginning of the month. I've been so busy, that I just remembered to post pictures. As I was taking the pics, I realized that I've been so busy that I don't even remember half the steps I did on this one. I stitched the filmstrip ribbon? Memory's going. lol<br />
<br />
You can view Tim's original tag and his tutorial by clicking <a href="http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2014-august/">here</a>.<br />

Tim, and a lot of other artists like to add the Distress Paint with their fingers. It's fun, but sometimes you get fingerprints if you're not too careful! I guess that's better than a signature on your art! lol See the bottom of this "S" tag?<br />

I noticed that the Remnant Rub I used on this little chipboard tag is curling up, so quick fix ... I brushed a little of Ranger Multi Matte Medium over it. It dries to a matte finish, so nobody will be the wiser!<br />
