December 2012 Tim Tag

Almost the end of the month, so I guess I better get my December  Tim tag posted!  Especially since I haven't done one in months!  He actually posted two tags for December since he didn't decide to start the 12 Tags of 2012 until February.  He promised us he'd catch up with January, but he was so busy, he just got to it now.  You can see all Tim's 2012 tags here and get complete instructions.  Tim's snowman tag is on the left above, and mine is on the right.

My friend, Grace, came over to play and make this tag with me (hers is at the end of this post).  We had so much fun, we're going to make them together every month!

The background was made using Distress Stains:  Broken China & Brushed Pewter.  Isn't it beautiful?  So shimmery!

The snowman is an old one from Stampin' Up!, and it's stamped on watercolor paper and colored using Tim's Distress Markers.  I decided to cut out the whole thing and pop it up instead of just popping up his hat.

I added Tissue Tape and a piece of silver pipe cleaner.  Originally, I didn't realize Tim used the Wordplay die, so I had to find a substitute for the mirrored letters.  None of my many alphabet dies would work (either way too small, or too large).  I decided to make a flourish from black Co'ordinations cardstock, and used the Festive Greenery die to make some leaves.  I tell ya, I can recreate almost any project, using any medium, but flower arranging has always eluded me!  My leaves just didn't look right, so I stuck a silver snowflake in the center (see pic of original design below).

After Grace left, I slapped myself in the head when I realized he used the Wordplay die, which I had recently acquired.  I took the leaves off, but decided to leave the black flourish.  Below is a pic of Gracie's tag.  She decided to just stick with snowflakes and the black flourish.
