Wendy Vecchi Challenge

There's a new blog on Facebook for the fans of Wendy Vecchi!  I just signed up with Bloglovin', and now the challenges will be sent directly to my email.  The first challenge ends tonight, so here's a quick post of my entry (use Wendy's embossing paste).  I used the white embossing paste thru a heart stencil, and because of the vibrant Dyan Revealy spray ink ink under the paste, it picked up subtle color.  Love it!

I can't wait to see what the next challenge is!

1-26-15 Techniques Class

I've been playing all weekend, and I wanted to post some quick pics of the cards we'll be making in my class tomorrow night from 7-9pm.  Please contact me ASAP if you're interested in joining us, so I can prepare your supplies.

I designed this card after being inspired by Kristina Werner.  She made a beautiful Valentine's Day card, and you can view it here on her blog.

This 2nd card is made with one of Tim Holtz's Stamper's Anonymous/Sizzix stamp/die sets called Blueprint Cupcake, designed by Mario III.  For instruction in my class, we're only going to do 2 full layers, but this set comes with 6 dies:  full cupcake w/burning candle, bottom of cupcake, icing, candle, flame, and a label tag.  You can do so much with this set by layering the different sections of the cupcake.  I love all of Mario III's blueprint stamps.

And, finally, this 3rd card was inspired by Jennifer McGuire.  I just love her blog!  She posts, pretty much, every weekday.  She includes video tutorials for every card, and she has a family (including a toddler!).  I wish I had her time management skills & dedication!  You can see her original post here.  She uses notecards a lot for her card bases, and on her card, she used a beautiful shimmery blue note card.  To make my cardstock shimmery, I just used the old Perfect Pearls in a Mini Mister trick.  You can just Google the technique, or here's a link (you don't have to add a Distress color though).

I still have 2 spots available for tomorrow night's class, so contact me ASAP!

2015--A New Year, A New Tag

Happy New Year everyone!  Tim's tags for 2015 are off to a great start!  He creates these tags every month, and you can always find them on his blog.  Click here to see his tag with complete instructions for each step.

I've done 3 tags in the last 3 days (lovin' this 1-1/2 off!), and I'll post the pics of the other tag I made tomorrow.  For this one, I decided to go out of my comfort zone and create with purple.

After meticulously placing my ChitChat words on the tag, I applied the Glue 'n Seal over the entire surface like Tim said, but the moisture in the glue activated the ink on the tag, and it bled!  Crap!  Oh well, you know it, embrace imperfection.  If you're going to make this tag, I suggest you do a thin layer of the Glue 'n Seal over the surface BEFORE adding the ChitChat words, and then another over the words.

I have so much glitter for a girl who's not into it!  I decided to go with this deep purple on my digits, and I used Tim's Antique Bronze Distress Paint on the word 'twenty'.

I found this little charm in my stash, and it was too shiny.  I clipped off the loop thingy, and to tone down the shine, I painted it with some Black Soot Distress Paint.  After a couple of seconds, I wiped it off to get this antiqued look.

I punched a hole in the number 5 so I could hang this charm.  You wouldn't believe how many colors I tried before settling on plain old Black Soot.  Same as above, I covered with Distress Paint, making sure it got into all the grooves; waited a few seconds, and wiped off surface.

It needed a little something more, so I grabbed one of these round thingys.  I added a clock graphic and the epoxy center.  I might just remove that, because I've had these for so long, it's yellowed.  I think I'll just do some Glossy Accents on top for some dimension.

If you look closely at this photo, you'll see I also ran my Krylon Copper Paint Pen around the edges of the tag.
